An Unexpected Honor
Good Afternoon All,
I try to blog once a month, but I am so excited that I couldn't wait to share the good news. I got so excited, I tired myself out.
This is actually, kind of, a continuation from yesterday's post.
I am a member of the Mount Dora Center for the Arts here in Mount Dora, FL. A couple of months ago I picked up a flyer for a juried show, calling all artists, to submit work for the "Intimacy With The Subject" show.
I figured why not. What did I have to lose. I submitted (3) photos for review. The photos are composites of nudes and flowers from a collection I created called "Sensual Nudes". I nervously submitted the photos knowing that nudes are a sensitive subject for many people. I also viewed the little Town of Mount Dora a bit conservative for nudes. But what the hell. You only live once. I didn't expect to hear back from them, and pretty much forgot about it.
Until today. The following was sent to me this afternoon:
MDCA wanted to see if we could use your submission of this photograph for our marketing purposes? You will receive all rights and recognition as the artist. This image will be the image for marketing collateral given to the press, etc. for the upcoming exhibition, "Intimacy with the Subject." One of your images has been approved of submission for the exhibit, we just can't tell you which one out of the three yet.
Now whether anyone would consider this is a big deal or not, I am honored to have one of my composites picked for publication for a art show. This was totally unexpected, which makes it all the more awesome. The publications will most likely be distributed throughout Florida.
So back to the point. Take a chance, don't give up on your dream, work hard and someday, when you least expect it, good things will come.
Have a great night all.
